Ramone Taylor is an Engineer at 4U Recording, a state-of-the-art recording studio that is part of the Made in Memphis Entertainment (MIME) family of companies. In his role, he records, engineers, and produces recording sessions and, along with the rest of the 4U staff, ensures that each artist’s experience is memorable and welcoming. He brings to his job years of experience as a musician and a lifelong passion for music. Taylor didn’t choose a career in the music industry so much as it chose him.
A Memphis native with a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Media from the University of Memphis and 15 years of experience in the music business, Taylor joined 4U Recording in Memphis after managing his home studio, Studio 479, where he worked closely with the burgeoning Memphis music scene. Prior to that, Taylor interned with engineer Ari Morris and with Grammy-winning producer/engineer Boo Mitchell.
In his position at 4U, Taylor has worked with Pooh Shiesty, NBA star James Wiseman, Porcelan, Evvie Mckinney, Paper Route, and Choppa Gang, among others. He’s especially proud to see the Shiesty Season record that he worked on at 4U achieve Gold-certified status.
Taylor is an artist in his own right, playing keyboard and drums. He showcases his musical skills not only at the 4U studio but alsoin his band Afrofuture. He’s also a lifelong music lover citing everything from rap to gospel as favorites.
Taylor acknowledges that working in the music business has its challenges, but, as he says, “[he] wouldn’t be happy doing anything else.”
